Outlines
The concept that I thought was the most helpful was the outline that we were asked to create and submit for corrections and comments. I thought that this was hepful because it forced me to actually write out my speech ahead of time so that I could not wait until the last minute. I also thought the outlines were really helpful because we were able to get feedback on them. This helped me a lot because whenever I submitted an outline I found out if I was on the right track or not. The comments the teacher gave me were always helpful and reassuring. I thought that during the third outline when we were allowed to make corrections and get more points it was a great idea and incentive. I thought that this should have been the case for all of out outlines but oh well. Overall I think the outlines were a great idea and the structure in which we were supposed to compose them was always clear and easy.

Yes, I think that the outlines were probably the most helpful tools that we used during this class. It helped me organize my thoughts in such a way that helped me understand the concepts and how they related to each other. Also, I thought that the comments that Carol gave us on the outlines help further clarify how we can improve our presentations for the better. She always gave us constructive criticism to help us give the needed kick that our speeches needed even if the outline was practically perfect. Also, I found that the distilled outlines were a great practice buddy. Putting the main points in our head really made memorizing the speech much, much easier. When it came down to business, our outlines really were the deciding factor whether we got an A or a B on our speeches. It really was the culmination of all of our work.
I completely agree with you! The outlines are probably the number one concept from this semester was making the outlines. They forced us to plan out the speech, what kind of attention getter to use, what the main points were going to be, and how to close the argument or topic. The feedback from the teacher on the outlines was helpful because, as you said, it let us know if we understood the different speech components and concepts we were using for the speeches. It was also helpful because it allowed us to improve our speech before the day we had to give it.
I deffinatly agree with you on that one, but for some reason outlines did not even cross my mind when I answered the question. I mean with out the outlines, our speeches would have been so much more difficult. The outlines worked out all the kincks of how exactly you were going to say something because it was a full sentence outline, plus, the teacher giving us feed back made it even better for use to really make our speech that much better. It was definatly I building block to boosting confidence too. Plus, we can apply the way we did these outlines universally to other projects and speeches.
